FAT IS GOOD-FOR A YOUTHFUL FACE! (press release from The Professional Image, Inc.)
Beverly Hills, CA. - Known in plastic surgery circles as the "father of fat grafting," Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, Dr. Richard Ellenbogen has been using a patients' own fat to restore volume and youthfulness to the face for over 25 years. Now, Ellenbogen has recently discovered that not only does fat help give back volume to weakened and aged facial structures, but it also has rejuvenative qualities because it contains stem cells! "I first started using fat during my Volumetric Facelift to restore volume in patients' faces over 25 years ago," says Dr. Ellenbogen who boasts an A-list clientele at his posh practice on the famous Sunset Boulevard. "After years of working with fat, science has now revealed that stem cells in fat reduce wrinkles and give patients radiant, glowing skin as well!" According to Dr. Ellenbogen, when stems cells are placed next to mature adult tissue they naturally repair the tissue and help it regenerate itself into new, youthful tissue. For years, Ellenbogen's Volumentric Facelift patients have commented on how their skin looks healthier, or their wrinkles and pigmentation spots have disappeared after the procedure. Dr. Ellenbogen attests this result to the presence of the very rich stem cells found in the fat that has been injected into the face during the Volumetric Facelift. Contrary to popular theory, facial aging is now considered a fight against loss of volume, and not just laxity of skin. Without replacing the loss of fat in the face, facelifts simply give patients the infamous 'pulled' look, because that's all the facelift technique is doing. The problem, Dr. Ellenbogen explains, is that as we age, the fat pockets including the malar and mid-cheek fat pads, lose the majority of their volume in the upper face as well as begin to droop. Ellenbogen's Volumetric Facelift addresses this problem by restoring volume to the appropriate areas in the face, as well as lifting the muscles and skin to a more youthful position and removing the unsightly fat under the jaw line. During the Volumetric Facelift, Dr. Ellenbogen prepares the patient's face for a short scar facelift, but before finishing the lift, he takes the patient's own fat (previously extracted from the patient's abdomen) and injects it into the areas in need underneath the superficial skin layers. The major areas of fat replacements are the malar (or cheek bone),the mid-face, nasolabial folds, lips and under eye or tear trough area. After initial injection, Dr. Ellenbogen then uses his fingers to gently mold the fat to the precise area, shape and contour needed for each patient's specific desired look. The entire procedure takes about 2 hours, and recovery time is shortened with no bandages or bed rest necessary after the first day. Dr. Ellenbogen notes that his fat grafting technique can also be used alone, without a facelift to achieve similar results on younger patients or, even to reshape one's face. He uses fat to make a chubby face appear slimmer, or make a face that is too long look shorter. It can also be used to replace traditional facial implants (chin, cheeks), rhinoplasty (to fix nasal deformities), revise rippling in breast augmentation, repair ear deformities or make an asymmetric face look more balanced. The possibilities are endless! Youth cannot be restored without replacing the lost volume in the face," added Dr. Ellenbogen. "We have now discovered the fountain of youth in two unlikely places- fat and stem cells!" |
