Nearly 1,000 of the country's leading dermasurgeons are expected to gather on October 26th – 29th, at the JW Marriott Resort & Spa in Desert Springs, California for the annual meeting of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS). This event offers a diverse line-up of educational forums and workshops presented by renowned experts in the areas of hair restoration, fillers, lasers and skin surgery procedures.

In addition to the four days of in-depth education exploration, Sunday, October 29th will bring together several key speakers, who will address some of this year's "hot topics," including:

• Shedding Light on Complete Ultra Violet Protection – Darrell Rigel, M.D., vice president of the ASDS, will discuss the latest developments in UVA and UVB protection and the impact each has on aging skin and skin cancer.
• Facial Aesthetics with Glymatrix Technology – Gary Monheit, M.D., president of the ASDS and Rhoda Narins, M.D., immediate past-president of the ASDS will discuss the impact of Glymatrix Technology. Glymatrix is a novel cross-linking procedure that removes a part of the collagen molecule to produce a treatment that is highly compatible with human collagen, thus removing allergenic concerns, especially for those patients who are allergic to beef or bovine products or lidocaine. By overcoming these limitations a new standard in biodegradable facial filler may be achieved, impacting facial aesthetic procedures that can last up to 12 months – an advancement over short-term fillers that must be injected two to three times a year.
• Introduction to Ablative Resurfacing – Christopher Zachary, F.R.C.P., Zakia Rahman, M.D., and Leonard Bernstein, M.D., members of the ASDS, will highlight the benefits of ablative resurfacing, a laser procedure which is typically used to improve the appearance of aging facial skin. This procedure, when performed by an experienced dermasurgeon, can produce a very dramatic result – in the past only achieved by more invasive procedures such as deep dermabrasion or chemical peels.
• Latest Research and Expanded Treatments with Plasma Skin Regeneration Technology – Richard Fitzpatrick, M.D. and Jean-Francois Tremblay, M.D., members of the ASDS, will review new technology that uses plasma energy to regenerate the skin. This technology has recently been approved by the Food and Drug Administration to treat wrinkles, superficial skin lesions, and actinic keratoses (dry, scaly, rough-textured skin patches or lesions caused by ultraviolet light) for full face and regional resurfacing (eyes and mouth).
