Obagi System Sunscreens Awarded
The Skin Cancer Foundation Seal of Recommendation
Just in Time for Skin Cancer Awareness Month(press release from Obagi Medical Products)
LONG BEACH, CA — March 31, 2005 — Obagi Medical Products announced today that Obagi-C™ Rx System was awarded The Skin Cancer Foundation’s Seal of Recommendation for its C-SunGuard SPF 30 sunscreen. The Obagi Nu-Derm® System has already been similarly recognized for its Healthy Skin Protection SPF 35 sunscreen. Both sunscreens are suitable for adult skin and children over the age of 6 months, and can be purchased through dermatologists, plastic surgeons and skin care specialists. Obagi-C Rx System C-SunGuard SPF 30 protects against damaging UVB and UVA rays through a combination of highly effective sun filters, 9% micronized zinc oxide and 7.5% octinoxate, to maintain radiant, Photolumines™ skin. The full Obagi-C Rx System can both correct and prevent mild to moderate sun damage by correcting color and tone, stimulating collagen development and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. In order to qualify for the recommendation, the Obagi-C Rx System C-SunGuard SPF 30 and Obagi Nu-Derm System Healthy Skin Protection SPF 35 were both reviewed by The Skin Cancer Foundation’s renowned photobiologists – experts in the study of the interaction of ultraviolet radiation and the skin. For products to be awarded the Seal, the entire committee had to approve testing results, which included verifying the claimed SPF of a product, and securing data that the product does not produce any adverse reactions such as contact irritancy or phototoxicity. The Skin Cancer Foundation is the only national and international organization concerned exclusively with the world's most prevalent malignancy – cancer of the skin. The mission of this non-profit organization is to increase public and professional awareness about the prevention, detection, and treatment of skin cancer.
