Candela Corporation (NASDAQ: CLZR) announced today that its
Vbeam(R) pulsed dye laser was featured on CBS's "The Early Show"
on Wednesday, February 25th and Thursday, February 26th during a
two-part birthmark treatment procedure series. Dr. Roy Geronemus
of the Laser & Skin Surgery Center of New York, a leading
surgeon in the treatment of birthmarks, demonstrated the Vbeam
laser as a treatment option for the removal of birthmarks.
Each year, one in ten children is born with a vascular
birthmark, commonly referred to as a "port wine stain." These
birthmarks can range in color from pale pink to dark purple, and
vary in size. Treatments for port wine stains have drastically
improved in recent years with the advancement of laser
technologies, such as the Vbeam from Candela.
Gerard E. Puorro, Candela's President and Chief Executive
Officer, commented, "It's admirable that CBS and Hannah Storm
decided to raise awareness about the treatment of port wine
stains, as it is a topic not easily discussed. Now, many
children and their parents can be better informed about the
treatment options currently available for this condition."
