![]() THERE IS SOME SPECULATION WITHIN THE PLASTIC SURGERY COMMUNITY THAT MADONNA MAY HAVE HAD THE NEW YORK CITY FACE LIFT (NYCL), COMBINED WITH INJECTABLE TREATMENTS LIKE RESTYLANE FILLERS AND BOTOX, PRIOR TO THE 2004, GRAMMY AWARDS. LEADING CANADIAN COSMETIC SURGEON THE FIRST TO BRING THE VERTICAL U-FACELIFT TECHNIQUE FROM PARIS TO North America
(PRESS RELEASE FROM GRAY COMMUNICATIONS) Toronto, Canada, February 12, 2004 … Dr. Marc DuPéré has added the new "Vertical U-Facelift" to his complement of services following intensive study of the procedure in France under the direction of internationally acclaimed plastic surgeon, Dr. Daniel Marchac. The Vertical U-Facelift is designed for those individuals looking for a full lift, particularly if the neck is an area of prime concern. "I am very pleased with the results I’ve been seeing with the Vertical U-Facelift," says Dr. DuPéré. "It offers an alternative for individuals concerned about scarring, especially around the ear area, while results have shown less damage to blood vessels, less post-operative complications and wonderful outcomes." The Vertical U-Facelift gets its name from the shape of the incision made, which begins in front of the ear before turning horizontal at the base of the ear, and becoming vertical again behind the ear. The procedure usually performed under a local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia, lifts tissues vertically and back, tightening the skin and offering a brow lift at the same time. Incisions are hidden within the natural hairline behind the ear, with lesser risk of alopecia - loss of hair - at the incision line, a known risk with traditional facelifts. The recovery time is about two weeks. "Cosmetic surgery is meticulous and delicate work," explains Dr. DuPéré. "Scarring and tissue damage can be avoided depending on how gentle the surgeon is and the Vertical U-Facelift procedure itself helps to minimize these risks." For a patient with less sagging, Dr. DuPéré uses the less invasive "NEW YORK CITY LIFT" (NYCL), which requires very little downtime, has minimal scarring and achieves a great result for the right patient. There is some speculation within the plastic surgery community that Madonna may have had the NYCL, combined with injectable treatments like Restylane fillers and Botox, prior to the 2004, Grammy Awards. Another lift gaining in popularity is the "Feather Facelift", where fine facelift threads are inserted through tiny incisions under the skin to pull up sagging brows, jowls and neck. "This procedure works best when combined with other non-surgical injectable treatments like Botox and Restylane. And like the (NYCL) gives a quick result with little downtime and no tell tale signs of surgery," adds Dr. DuPéré. Dr. DuPéré provides cosmetic seminars and Botox evenings for men to learn about the latest in subtle plastic surgery treatments in a relaxed environment. Dr. DuPere has noticed a real increase in the number of men coming to VISAGE for treatments. He also provides seminars just for women, indicating that education is key for his growing client roster. According to the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS), the overall number of cosmetic procedures has increased 228% since 1997. Dr. Dupéré decided to focus on plastic and cosmetic surgery because "results are visible and rewarding", and draws on his inherent artistic talents. His spacious loft-style clinic, located in Toronto’s fashion district, displays his original photography and paintings alongside his many professional credentials and awards of distinction. For his work in plastic surgery research in 2001, Dr. DuPéré was awarded the highest distinction at the annual meeting of the Canadian Society of Plastic Surgeons, the F.M. Woolhouse Clinical Research Award. Dr. DuPéré is also an active staff at the university-affiliated Toronto East General Hospital where he performs his more complicated procedures. Dr. DuPéré’s philanthropic endeavors will take him to Russia or South American this year to work on children with burns and congenital birth defects. Dr. Marc DuPéré’s, specializes in facial surgery, short-scar breast surgery and body sculpting. Lip enhancers and wrinkle removers, using injectables like Restylane and Botox (also for eliminating perspiration problem), are all popular treatments at VISAGE.
