"Members of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, along with many television viewers from all walks of life, have criticized this program, which uses violence, sex and graphically unrealistic portrayals of plastic surgery to boost ratings," says plastic surgeon Robert Bernard, MD, of White Plains, NY, who is president of the 2100-member ASAPS. ASAPS is the leading organization of board-certified plastic surgeons specializing in cosmetic surgery.

"Yes, this is an obviously fictional portrayal of plastic surgery, but nevertheless it is most disturbing to see cosmetic surgery patients, and women in particular, demeaned in this manner," says Dr. Bernard. "Not only as a physician, but also as a husband and father, I find it extremely distasteful, and there are many around the country who have voiced similar opinions."
