Press release from The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery(AACS) Chicago(April 30, 2002)
The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS) is pleased to announce that eight of its members will be participate in a landmark, post-graduate educational session, in which Russian cosmetic surgeons Dr. Marlen A. Sulamanidze and Dr. George M. Sulamanidze will introduce the innovative “Feather Lift” facial procedure to the United States. The live, surgical session will be conducted on May 9 -10, 2002 in Palm Springs, California and is being sponsored by K.M.I. and the Fragen Cosmetic Surgery Center. Upon conclusion of the program, the attending cosmetic surgeons will continue to assist K.M.I. with the clinical studies necessary for United Stated FDA approval. Additionally, the participants will continue to investigate the “Feather Lift” in order for it to meet necessary patient safety standards. The “Feather Lift” procedure, which has been trademarked by K.M.I. and Ronald Fragen, MD, uses the patented “Aptos” thread for lifting tissue of the face and neck. It is a simple, conservative, safe procedure, leaving no visible traces of intervention on the skin, and has proven to be efficient for the correction of the jaw line and for lifting flabby tissues in facial alterations. The “Feather Lift” procedure has also shown to be an alternative technique to the classical methods of lifting and contouring of the jaw line with various implants. The cosmetic surgeons participating in the workshop include: William Beeson, MD of Carmel, Indiana; Mark Berman, MD of Santa Monica, California; Robert Dryden, MD of Tucson, Arizona; Ronald Fragen of Palm Springs, California; Richard Joseph, MD of Naperville, Illinois; Mitchell Kaminski, MD of Northfield, Illinois; Marc Leventhal, MD of Rancho Cucamonga, California and Raymond Wolf, MD of West Alexandria, Ohio. Headquartered in Anaheim, California, K.M.I. manufactures cosmetic and plastic surgery instruments, infusion irrigation pumps, surgical aspiration devices, post surgical compression devices and new product research and development. For more information about K.M.I. please visit their website at www.kmicannula.com or call 714.956.1964. **************** The American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery is a professional medical society whose members are dedicated to patient safety and physician education in cosmetic surgery. Most members of the AACS are dermatologic surgeons, facial plastic surgeons, head and neck surgeons, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, plastic surgeons or ocular plastic surgeons – all of whom specialize in cosmetic surgery. AACS is an organization that represents a group of cosmetic surgeons in the American Medical Association through its seat in the AMA House of Delegates.
